My Forging
I lived in almost 20 different locations before my husband and I purchased our first home when I was 23. Moving was difficult for me, adjusting to a new room, seeing the light reflect off the walls in different ways as I moved lamps around. Decorating made the space feel safe and secure in the midst of constant change. I was gifted a decorative metal rose from a friend during one of my hardest moves, and that rose traveled with me from place to place. It was one of the first things I unpacked when moving in with a different family. I drilled holes in the wall of my bedroom on day one just so I could hang shelves and place that rose in line of sight.
It takes time to make a house feel like home. After we hammer away at a to-do list it can start to take shape, just like forging metal. It’s a gradual process over time, but the end result can be timeless. It can be a Forged Home.
